Focusing on an individual’s or team’s acquisition of, or improvement of, work-related skills. The purpose of skills coaching is to build capability rather than achieve particular work related targets.
Skills coaching may include:
- Communication skills, such as effective/active listening

- Leadership skills, such as goal setting and delegation
Performance Coaching
Focusing on improving an individual’s or team’s ability to improve their performance and achieve work-related goals such as specific metric-based organizational outcomes.
Performance coaching may include:
- advanced goal setting, planning and strategy
- decision making and problem solving
- managing change
Developmental Coaching
Focusing on enhancing an individual’s ability to meet current and future challenges more effectively via the development of increasingly complex understanding of the self, others and the systems in which the individuals is involved.
Developmental coaching may include:
- Understanding the self and other
- Adult learning principles
- Personal aspirations, values and strengths
Coaching and Development is ideal when:

- you have been promoted from an operational/technical role into a management and leadership role
